What is the
Adopt-A-Family service area?
The Adopt-A-Family Program serves homeless families whose last residence was within Tarrant County, Texas.
The program owns 64 houses and 16 townhouses and has access to up to another 50 townhouses. These housing units are located throughout the county, with units in Fort Worth, Arlington, and the mid-cities area.
When did the
Adopt-A-Family get its start?
In 1990, the Community
Enrichment Center challenged Tarrant County churches to “adopt” one
family with a realization that housing alone is not sufficient to
reverse a life of poverty. Since its inception, churches, businesses,
human service organization, public jurisdictions and individuals
throughout the county have joined in the partnership caring for over
1,000
families.
